Saints Relegated, & Champions League Race Is Heating Up! Premier League Previews, Stats & Insights.

Southampton were the first club to be officially relegated last weekend with a defeat away to Spurs 3-1. This was Saints 25th loss of the season so far leaving them on a mere 10 points and on track for an unwanted record of the worst points tally ever in a Premier League season currently held by Derby County with 11 points.

At the top Liverpool are still on course to lift the title despite losing away to Fulham 3-2 they remain 11 clear of second place Arsenal with 7 games left, who could only manage a draw away to Everton 1-1.

The Champions league spots are now becoming interesting as despite a 2-1 defeat Nottingham Forest look sure to have secured one sitting in 3rd place while with that win Aston Villa gave thier chances a boost as they move into 7th.

Chelsea 4th managed a 0-0 draw to Brentford while Newcastle had a routine victory 3-0 away to Leicester leaving the Magpies 5th and the Foxes 19th and are now almost certain to be joining Southampton in the Championship next season.

Man City remain 6th after a 0-0 draw in the Manchester derby, while Brighton look like they may miss out after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace who ended the game with 9 men.

Elsewhere West Ham drew 2-2 with Bournemouth and Wolves pretty much secured their status with a win over Ipswich who make up the bottom 3 and look as though their fate may also be sealed.

As we head into the final weeks the action this weekend starts at the Etihad at 12.30 ko UK time Manchester City v Crystal Palace, followed by Brighton v Leicester, Nottingham Forest v Everton and Southampton v Aston Villa all at 15.00 ko. the evening game sees Arsenal take on Brentford at 17.30.

Sunday is Chelsea v Ipswich, Liverpool v West Ham and Wolves v Tottenham all aty 14.00 ko before Newcastle v Man Utd at 16.30 and then finally Monday at 20.00 the action is rounded up with Bournemouth v Fulham.

Manchester City Vs Crystal Palace

Pre-Match Summary

City will be pushing to rescue by their standards a poor season by qualifying for Champions League they currently sit 6th and after a stalemate last time out v rivals Manchester United they will be looking for a big 3 points today. Palace come here in good form and have lost once in the last 7 games with 5W and 1D so will also fancy their chances today.

Statistical Insight:

Brighton Vs Leicester

Pre-Match Summary

Liecester having lost 3-0 to Newcastle last week will almost certainly be playing in the Championship next season. They come here to face a Brighton side who have been on a poor run and look as though they may miss out on a european place as a result but will be looking to battle on today which looks on paper an easy game.

Statistical Insight:

Nottingham Forest Vs Everton

Pre-Match Summary

Forest look to have done more than enough to secure a Champions League place for next season and it is some achivement considering last season they just about managed to survive relegation, today they welcome an in form Everton side who under David Moyes look a much better team. An interesting fixture between two in form teams.

Statistical Insight:

Southampton Vs Aston Villa

Pre-Match Summary

Saints fate has been on the cards for a while but last week it was confirmed with a 3-1 loss to Spurs. They today welcome Aston Villa who earned a solid 3 points last week to keep there Champions League qualification hopes alive and will be wanting to bolster that with another win here.

Statistical Insight:

Arsenal Vs Brentford

Pre-Match Summary

Arsenals title hopes may be over but they will not give it up and after a massive 3-0 win over Real Madrid midweek in the Champions League they will beleive anything is possible as they host fellow Londoners Bretford who have only won 1 in the last 5 with 2L and 2D, they have nothing to play for as a mid table finish is as best as it will get for the bees.

Statistical Insight:

Chelsea Vs Ipswich

Pre-Match Summary

It will take a miracle to see Ipswich survive relegation. They are 12 points off saftey going into this one, defeat here allthough not mathematically, will almost certainly see them go down. Chelsea have a battle of their own to secure Champions League but a win here will help the cause so there will be no let up for Ipswich.

Statistical Insight:

Liverpool Vs West Ham United

Pre-Match Summary

Liverpool remain on course to lift the title even after a 3-2 defeat last weekend away to Fulham. Arne Slot will be demanding they stay focused and do not let it slip in the final weeks. They today welcome West Ham who dont have a great record at Anfield and this will be a tough test. West Ham currently sit 16th in the league but look to be safe on 35 points.

Statistical Insight:

Wolverhampton Wanderers Vs Tottenham Hotspur

Pre-Match Summary

Wolves secured a huge 3 points last weekend against fellow relegation battling Ipswich and that win has pretty much ensured they will be a Premier League team next season. Spurs who have had a poor season sit 14th and last week was their first win in 5 games.

Statistical Insight:

Newcastle United Vs Manchester United

Pre-Match Summary

Recent Carabao Cup winners Newcastle still have a job to do in order to secure their European dream and they are 5th which come the end of the season will be enough for Champions League but they need to stay focused and need wins as its tight in that group. Man Utd who drew v Man City last week 0-0 dont have much to play for now except pride and that may not be enough against this hungary Newcastle side.

Statistical Insight:

Bournemouth Vs Fulham

Pre-Match Summary

Fulham could make a late bid for a European place after last weeks big win over league leaders Liverpool. They are now only 3 points off the European places and a win here could really give them a boost. The Cherrys recent run of poor form has seen them slip to 10th and look as though they are out of it now but will want to end the season on a high.

Statistical Insight:
