Arsenal are scheduled to play their third UEFA Champions League group match on Tuesday, October 24 when they travel away to face Sevilla.

Over the weekend, the Mikel Arteta-coached side struggled against a determined Chelsea and will be looking to use the match to get their rhythm back on track.

Chelsea outplayed the Gunners tactically at Stamford Bridge but bottled a 2-0 lead with less than 15 minutes remaining to the end of the game. 

Manchester City old boy Cole Palmer had put the Blues ahead in the 15th minute before a David Raya blunder gifted Mykhailo Mudryk a goal against his former admirers.

The Gunners, who have been a different animal since Arteta took over, pulled one back in the 77th minute before Leandro Trossard salvaged a crucial draw to underline their mentality once again.


As for Sevilla, they go into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against La Liga leaders Real Madrid. 

The club which parted ways with Jose Luis Mendilibar earlier this month sit third in Group B, a point behind Arsenal and will be looking to embrace the challenge from Arsenal.

In the last round of Champions League fixtures Sevilla registered a 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven while Arsenal fell 2-1 to group leaders RC Lens.

Diego Alonso, the man who has been tasked with the responsibility of elevating Sevilla has inherited a fully fit squad from his predecessor. 

Only Mariano Diaz and Alfonso Pastor are guaranteed to miss the game because of injuries. 

Moroccan forward Youssef En-Nesyri is likely to lead Sevilla’s front line with Ivan Rakitic controlling the midfield. 


Sergio Ramos, who had a great game against his former employers Real Madrid and ex-Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela should also play a role in the encounter.

Meanwhile, apart from Jurrien Timber who is sidelined for several months, Arsenal goes into Tuesday’s match without fresh injury concerns.

Thomas Partey, Kai Havertz and Takehiro Tomiyasu might sneak into the starting lineup alongside Trossard thanks to their impressive cameos off the bench in the last two matches.

Arsenal’s biggest win against the Spanish side came on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in an Emirates Cup final where the match ended in a 6-0 score line.

Sevilla have struggled to impress lately, picking up only one win from the last five games – the victory came on Tuesday, September 29 in the club’s 5-1 demolition of Almeria.

The Los Palanganas then lost 1-0 away to Barcelona before registering three consecutive draws against PSV, Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid.

As for the Gunners, they have collected maximum points in the three of their recent five matches. 

The North London side have also been beaten and drawn once. The painful defeat came against Lens in the Champions League.

Having suffered a shock defeat in the hands of Lens in the last match, Arsenal will do everything to return from Spain with a win.

Sevilla on the other hand has had good games against English Premier League sides and would be seeking to continue from where they left.

However, goals are likely to be plenty in this match with Arsenal just tipped to be the favourites.
