Borussia Dortmund are set to battle it out with their nemesis Mainz 05 on Tuesday, December 19 before Bundesliga clubs take some time off for the winter break.

Dortmund will be seeking revenge for the pain that Mainz caused them in their final game of the 2022/2023 campaign which denied them a chance of lifting the league title. 

However, the Black and Yellows know that a win against the visitors will not come on a silver platter due to their current form.

Meanwhile, Mainz 05 go into the match as underdogs having amassed a mere nine points so far in 15 matches this season.

The club which occupies one of the relegation spots have one of the leakiest defenses in Bundesliga, conceding 27 goals so far. 

However, despite the struggles, former Dortmund employee Jan Siewert, who took Mainz 05 managerial job on an interim basis in November will return to the Signal Iduna Park with nothing but a win on his mind.
