Lyon vs Crystal Palace recent form and Europa League results
Lyon started their European campaign with a 2–1 away win over Anderlecht on 16 September. Crystal Palace followed on 17 September with a 4–0 home victory over Lech Poznań. Both enter Matchday 2 with three points, although Palace have a higher goal difference after those opening results.
Those results help explain the early picture without overstating either team’s form. Lyon have already shown they can collect points away from home, while Palace produced four goals and a clean sheet in their first match. This contest offers another measure of how both clubs are adapting to the Europa League league phase.

Lyon vs Crystal Palace team news and confirmed lineups
The Lyon vs Crystal Palace team news will become clearer when both clubs announce their matchday squads. Lyon are managed by Paulo Fonseca, while Palace are led by Pierre Sage. Neither club’s starting eleven should be assumed from its earlier matches, because selection and fitness can change before kickoff.
Lyon’s midfield options include Corentin Tolisso and Tyler Morton, while Palace players such as Adam Wharton and Yéremy Pino provide different ways to progress the ball. These names describe squad options, not confirmed starters. For the latest Lyon vs Crystal Palace confirmed lineups and substitutes, check SportPesa Score alongside official team announcements.
Lyon vs Crystal Palace head-to-head (H2H)
UEFA’s Europa League head-to-head record does not list a previous completed meeting between Lyon and Crystal Palace in this competition. That does not establish whether the clubs have ever played a friendly or another type of match.
The strongest connection heading into this fixture is on the touchline. Pierre Sage managed Lyon from November 2023 to January 2025 before taking charge of Crystal Palace. His return adds an unusual dimension to the fixture, although the two clubs’ current players and tactical demands remain the more important factors on the pitch.

Key players and tactical matchups
The Lyon vs Crystal Palace match preview centres on the contest in midfield. Lyon will look for ways to move possession into attacking positions without leaving space for Palace to break. Palace’s ability to regain possession and carry the ball forward could test Lyon’s defensive organisation.
Sage’s knowledge of his former club makes for an interesting storyline, but it does not determine how the game will unfold. The most useful signs to watch are how each team handles transitions, protects the middle of the pitch and creates chances from wide areas.
