Genoa vs Juventus meet in Serie A Matchday 9 on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, with kick-off at 20:45 Italian time (19:45 UTC). Juventus arrive with a commanding recent head-to-head record, but Genoa have won two of their last three league matches and their last two home games.

The Genoa vs Juventus Serie A preview centres on a clear contrast. Genoa, coached by Daniele De Rossi, are looking to turn improved home results into sustained league form. Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus are seeking another positive performance after their recent win at Lecce. Set pieces, discipline without the ball and the availability of key players could shape the contest.

·       Date: Wednesday, 28 October 2026

·       Venue: Stadio Luigi Ferraris, Genoa

The Genoa vs Juventus match date falls during a midweek round of Serie A fixtures. The Genoa vs Juventus venue, Luigi Ferraris, gives the hosts a familiar setting as they seek a third successive home league win.

Genoa have been assessing several players ahead of the fixture. Pre-match reports raised a doubt over Wiafe after a muscular problem, with other squad availability decisions also subject to late checks. The Genoa vs Juventus injuries picture should therefore be read as provisional until the official matchday squad is published.

Juventus have a number of injury concerns. Pre-match reporting lists Kenan Yıldız, Khéphren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli among the unavailable players, alongside other absentees. Spalletti has emphasised the importance of a convincing collective performance rather than simply who starts. The final squad and medical updates take precedence over any early report.

The Genoa vs Juventus lineups are not confirmed until the clubs release their starting elevens. Reported combinations include a back-three approach for both teams, but individual selections and formations remain subject to change. This preview does not present a predicted XI as official team news.

The Genoa vs Juventus recent form comparison is more nuanced than the historical record suggests. Genoa won two of their three league games immediately before this fixture, matching their number of wins in the preceding 14 league matches. Their last two Serie A home matches also ended in victories.

Juventus enter after a win at Lecce. The Genoa vs Juventus standings context matters, but league positions should be checked against the updated Serie A table because other Matchday 9 fixtures can change the order.

The official Genoa vs Juventus head to head record covers 116 Serie A meetings: Juventus have won 71, Genoa 22, and 23 have finished level. Juventus have kept a clean sheet in each of the last five league meetings with Genoa, a run which highlights the defensive challenge facing the hosts.

Further Genoa vs Juventus stats show the importance of dead-ball situations: six of the last ten goals in their league meetings have come from set pieces, including corners, penalties and a throw-in sequence. Genoa have conceded 13 league goals this season, one of the stronger defensive tallies among teams in the lower half according to Juventus’ pre-match review.

Set pieces offer Genoa a route to pressure Juventus even without extended possession. Spalletti specifically identified De Rossi’s side as a physical threat from restarts and when attacking the space behind defenders. Juventus must also account for loose balls in the box and the defensive transition after their own attacks.

Juventus’ ability to sustain attacks could be important. Their official preview identifies Douglas Luiz as a leading passer in the opposition half this season. If Juventus can progress cleanly through midfield, Genoa may be forced into longer defensive spells. That is a tactical possibility, not a prediction of the final score.
