UEFA Champions League: Matchday Six Preview

Nine of the 16 places in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages have been allocated, but there is still plenty of drama in store with seven round of 16 spots up for grabs.
Current holders Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea have already confirmed their status as group winners. Meanwhile, FC Porto, Sevilla, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are all looking forward to the knockout phase of Europe’s elite club competition.
However, 14 clubs go into Matchday Six with hopes of securing one of the nine remaining spots in the knockout stages.
In Group A, La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid will be confident of progressing. However RB Salzburg still have a chance of avoiding a third placed finish – which would mean UEFA Europa League football for their European exploits.
Group B is particularly interesting, with all four teams still vying to go through. Inter Milan and Real Madrid were the favourites to proceed before a ball was kicked, but Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk could well go through.
In Group D, the knockout format has arrived early with Atalanta and Ajax battling it out to join group winners Liverpool in the round of 16.
Lazio and Club Brugge could yet still make it out of Group F and join the drama in the next phase of the UEFA Champions League. Whilst all eyes will be on Group H where two of Manchester United, PSG or RB Leipzig will secure the top two spaces in the group.
